The symposium aims to strengthen the partnership between the German university TU Bergakademie Freiberg and its partner universities in Iraq, Salahaddin University-Erbil, University of Technology Baghdad, Erbil Polytechnic University, University of Diyala, Koya University, Al-Nahrain University, Dohuk Polytechnic University, Ishik University and Mosul University.
Focus of the symposium will be education and practical qualification for future experts in Additive Manufacturing and areas of cooperation in the fields of engineering, materials, machinery, manufacturing between the universities and Iraqi and German companies and institutions.
The symposium is hosted by Salahaddin University-Erbil, Iraq, and funded by DAAD and the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.
Since 2009 the Faculty of Mechanical, Process and Energy Engineering of TU Bergakademie Freiberg has been coordinating the German-Iraqi academic partnership projects Mechanical Engineering Germany – Iraq (MEGI) and Distance Learning and Additive Manufacturing (DiLAM). MEGI has been funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) since 2009 until 2018 and DiLAM 2019-2020. DAAD aims to support the reconstruction of higher education in Iraq.
